About
Who Paid My Doc is an independent reader for the U.S. Open Payments database — the federal record of payments that drug and medical device manufacturers report making to physicians, teaching hospitals and other recipients.
The data is public and free to download. It is also enormous, awkward to query, and easy to misread. This site exists to make it something a person can actually look through.
What we do not do
We do not verify, edit or correct the underlying records, and we draw no conclusion from them. A reported payment is not an allegation: financial relationships between industry and medicine are legal, common, and frequently how research gets funded at all.
We do not rank people by anything other than reported value, and we never combine the three kinds of money into a single total — the methodology explains why that matters.
